A check valve, or also known as a non-return valve, is a type of valve designed to allow fluid flow in only one direction. The main function of a check valve is to prevent backflow of fluid in an undesirable direction in the piping system.
The way a check valve works is by opening and allowing fluid flow to pass through the valve when the fluid pressure from the desired direction is greater than the pressure on the other side. When the pressure on the other side is greater, the check valve will close automatically to prevent backflow.
